Office 365 shared mailboxes are auto-mapped to a delegated user. But one issue encountered is that after removing the delegation, the account cannot be unmapped from Outlook.
There is one resolution discovered by connecting to Exchange Online using Remote Powershell. Below the steps:
- Connect to EXO.
- Remove user’s delegation. If user’s delegation was already removed, execute the command below to add the delegation without mapping:
Add-MailboxPermission -Identity -User -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping:$false - Remove user’s delegation again.
Remove-MailboxPermission -Identity -User -AccessRights FullAccess - Restart Outlook. It may take a maximum of 10 minutes before the shared mailbox will be unmapped from MS Outlook.
